# Freelancer or Business: what's the difference?

What each account type shows to clients, what you can do with each, and how to switch later.

When you create a Matchable for Business account you choose between Freelancer and Business. The difference comes down to one thing: whether you have a business page. Everything else in the manager works the same for both. This article explains what each option shows to clients, what you can and can't do, and how to switch later.

## Freelancer

A freelancer account is one person. You are the pro, and your own page is what clients see.

- **One pro, you.** The account has exactly one connected pro. You can't add other pros.

- **No business page.** There is no page under a business name. Clients find you by your own name, in search and on the map, as a trainer.

- **No business logo.** Your profile photo is what clients see on your page and in search results.

- **Everything you offer is on your page.** Private training, classes, events and courses are all found and booked from your own page.

You are still asked for a trading name when you sign up. It goes on your client invoices and in Company details, not on your page.

## Business

A business account has a page for the business itself, with one or more pros underneath it.

- **A business page.** A page under your business name, with a logo, photos, a description, amenities and your location. Clients find the business in search and on the map.

- **One or more pros.** Every pro you add gets a profile page under the business. Clients can book through the business page or through a pro's own page.

- **You can be one of the pros.** If you train clients yourself, add yourself as a pro. Your business page and your pro page then both exist.

## In the manager

The sidebar is the only part of the manager that differs. A freelancer edits their page, hours, active services and integrations under Manage profile. A business has Trainers, with a card for every pro, and Business profile for the business page.

## What is the same

Apart from the business page, both account types get the full manager:

- Services: private training, classes, events, courses and sign-up forms.

- Calendar, bookings and requests.

- Clients and their booking history.

- Products and promotion: credit packages, discounts and vouchers.

- Payments and payouts through Matchable Pay, Mollie or Stripe.

- Insights, integrations and the booking widget for your own website.

- Settings: company details, locations and user roles.

Both account types are free to create.

## Which one should you pick?

Pick Business when at least one of these is true:

- You work under a trade name and want clients to see that name, with you as the trainer underneath it.

- You want to connect more than one pro, now or later.

Pick Freelancer when it is just you, working under your own name. If that changes, you can turn on a business page later.

## Switching later

**Freelancer to Business.** Open Manage profile and scroll to Business page at the bottom. Click Turn on and confirm. You get a business page with your name and location, plus a Trainers list with you as the first pro. Your own profile and page stay as they are, so nothing you set up is lost.

![The Business page block at the bottom of Manage profile, with the confirmation dialog Turn on your business page.](https://staticfiles.gleap.io/p68f8a654022daa7f002892c0/3LwwBfHWSl62rRCwuyzruGYeBDJKsQgNINgk4ArYAmjLL06rTKbJI06upFdcS3DzL4PVHBzKv25.png)

_1 Turn on, at the bottom of Manage profile. 2 Confirm with Turn on._

**Business to Freelancer.** You can't do this yourself in the manager. Ask us through the chat, or email [support@matchable.io](mailto:support@matchable.io), and we switch it for you.

## Good to know

- Company details are needed for both account types to go live: legal name, legal form, registration number, VAT details, support email and support phone number. They go on your client invoices, not on your page.

- Both account types have a default location under Settings > Locations. It is where clients find you on the map. As a freelancer you can enter a full address or just a city.

- Not sure yet? Start as a freelancer. Turning on the business page later keeps everything you have set up, while going back from Business to Freelancer goes through support.
